Backstory
Television screens across three continents simultaneously broadcast the same impossible footage: deceased paranormal investigators rising from their graves to expose the fraudulent methods they had used in life. The man orchestrating these supernatural revelations was Dr. Marcus Thorne, a brilliant neuroscientist who had discovered how to weaponize the guilt and trauma embedded in locations where paranormal hoaxes occurred. After his own near-death experience revealed the thin veil between dimensions, Marcus realized that most "supernatural" phenomena were elaborate deceptions that prevented humanity from accessing genuine otherworldly contact. Now calling himself Phantom Specter, he uses his technology to manifest the tortured spirits of those who perpetuated these lies, forcing them to confess their crimes while terrorizing anyone who continues to profit from supernatural fraud.
