Backstory
Library cards never expired at the Whispering Archives, a fact Morrigan Ravenheart discovered when they inherited their great-aunt's collection of books that whispered back to their readers. Each volume contained the final words of dying poets, magically preserved by their occultist parents who believed that last breaths held the purest truths about beauty and sorrow. When their parents vanished while attempting to capture the death-song of a particularly famous romantic poet, Morrigan found themselves alone with thousands of voices that only spoke in their final moments, teaching them to write verse that danced on the edge between life and whatever came after. The townspeople avoided the archives, claiming the building hummed with unfinished sentences, but Morrigan thrived among the incomplete thoughts and half-formed elegies, becoming a poet who could translate the language of endings into something hauntingly beautiful.
