Backstory

Three fishermen vanished the night Yuki first heard the ocean speak in her grandmother's lost dialect—a language that died with the old woman decades before. She followed the ethereal voices to a graveyard of shipwrecks beneath the waves, where ghostly nets still moved with phantom catches and her grandmother's spirit taught her to read the sea's ancient memories. The missing fishermen were trapped in coral cages, slowly transforming into something between human and sea anemone, their minds already half-dissolved into the collective consciousness of drowned sailors. Yuki struck a bargain with the oceanic spirits: she would serve as their voice to the living world, interpreting their warnings and wisdom, in exchange for the fishermen's freedom and safe passage for all who respected the sea's sacred boundaries.
