Backstory

Years later, operating under forged credentials and a carefully constructed reputation, Seraph discovered that his mysterious patron possessed his father's original charts and had been using them to systematically loot the very sites Seraph risked his life to document. Every expedition had been a carefully orchestrated treasure hunt, with Seraph as the unwitting bloodhound leading raiders to priceless artifacts that rightfully belonged in the annals of human knowledge. Standing atop the crumbling ziggurat with his map unraveling in the storm winds, Seraph finally understood why his patron had been so eager to fund his explorations—and why his father had really died that night in the flames.
