Backstory

The blast had been no accident—he'd recognized the telltale signs from his childhood spent watching his demolitions expert father prepare controlled detonations for the city's underground infrastructure, before a cave-in claimed both his parents and left him with an uncanny ability to sense structural weaknesses in both buildings and people. When the mysterious benefactor who'd been sending him anonymous support payments suddenly stopped, Kaito transferred schools to stay ahead of the questions, carrying with him the weight of knowing that sometimes the strongest foundations crumble without warning. That knowledge made him fierce in protecting others, even as he kept his distance from anything that felt too much like home.
