Backstory
Nobody expected the daughter of subsistence farmers to revolutionize corporate efficiency theory, but Zara Al-Rashid's childhood of optimizing water distribution across drought-stricken fields translated seamlessly into maximizing profit margins. She earned her way into the Corporate Academy by developing an algorithm that saved her village from famine, catching the attention of Victoria Kane, who became both mentor and tormentor. Kane subjected Zara to increasingly brutal "optimization exercises"—forcing her to choose between human welfare and corporate metrics—believing that only through such trials could Zara become the perfect corporate instrument. The irony haunts Zara daily: the same mathematical brilliance that once saved lives now serves a system that views human suffering as an acceptable variable in the equation of progress.
