Backstory
Three copper pennies and a bottle cap—that's what Rosa Gavilan traded for her first "pet rock" at age seven, convinced it held the secret to making wishes come true. When her grandmother's traveling circus collapsed and scattered performers across the country, Rosa inherited more than just a trunk of sequined costumes and broken dreams; she inherited the belief that magic lived in forgotten places and overlooked creatures. Every stray cat became a potential circus star in her eyes, every unusual stone a piece of her grandmother's lost world waiting to be rediscovered. Her parents, former circus performers turned reluctant teachers, watched nervously as she climbed higher and dared more boldly, searching for the spark that would bring back the wonder they'd lost when the big top came down for the final time.
