Backstory

The arsonist had mistaken her family's cramped apartment for the witness protection safe house next door—a deadly case of wrong address that left her orphaned at fifteen, clutching nothing but a melted Saint Christopher pendant and an unquenchable rage. She spent two years hunting the man responsible through New Orleans' underground, learning every dirty trick from black market dealers and corrupt cops, until the night she finally cornered him in a warehouse and realized that revenge tasted like ash. The phoenix tattoo came later, inked over scars from that final confrontation, marking not her family's death but her rebirth as someone who prevents tragedies instead of avenging them.
