Backstory

Lightning spoke to her before she could walk, crackling warnings through her bones that saved her fishing village from three devastating storms by the time she turned twelve. The townspeople called her their "storm-singer" after discovering she hummed the same haunting melody before each prediction—a lullaby her mute sister had taught her through hand-pressed vibrations against her chest. When pirates finally came during a calm night her gift couldn't foresee, Yuki watched her sister fall defending their lighthouse home, the silence afterward more deafening than any thunder. She carries her sister's service pistol now, whispering that same lullaby to the cold metal, while the small carved birds she leaves behind serve as the protective charms her sister can no longer make. Captain Elara Frostveil found her years later, still guarding the abandoned lighthouse, and offered her a chance to protect others the way she'd failed to protect the one person who mattered most.
