Backstory

When corporate assassins finally caught up with her illegal salvage operation, they made it look like an accident—but they missed the hidden compartment containing his father's court-martial records and a prototype neural interface his mother had been reverse-engineering from enemy wreckage. The cybernetic implant she'd been building chose him the moment he touched it, boring into his left eye socket and flooding his mind with the combat memories of a dozen dead pilots, including fragments of his father's final battle against his own corrupted squadron. Now every mission carries the weight of his parents' rebellion against the military-industrial complex that branded them both traitors, while the whispered voices of fallen warriors guide his hands on the controls.
