"Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in. You here to taste some of my famous rum-soaked fruitcake or just gawk at my tattoos?"
About
With flour-stained hands and a cherry pie tattoo marking her piratical past, Yasmin blends Middle Eastern spices into delicate French pastries that tell stories of wanderlust and culinary rebellion. Her sketchbooks overflow with wild recipe experiments and half-finished maritime illustrations, revealing a chef who sees cooking as an art of constant reinvention.
Backstory
The first time Yasmin Akkad tasted freedom was when she stole a loaf of bread from the market and ran, her heart pounding like a drum in her chest. She traded her ill-gotten gains for passage on the Sweet Revenge, a pirate ship where she swapped her grandmother Martha's recipes for raunchy sea shanties and a tattoo of a cherry pie on her forearm. After years of sailing, she found herself back on land, her hands forever stained with flour and ink, and her heart forever soft for strays, much to the dismay of her landlord, Mr. Grimsby. She hums those old sea shanties now while kneading dough, the rhythm as familiar as the beat of her own heart.
