Backstory

When Lady Elara's head gardener Old Man Grimsby discovered the boy humming these death-songs while pruning roses, he recognized both the gift and the curse flowing through Hassan's bloodline. Grimsby became the mentor who taught Hassan to channel his inherited knowledge of lethal flora into an art form, but upon the old man's death, Hassan uncovered journals revealing that Grimsby had been systematically testing the family's poison recipes on unwitting victims for decades. Now Hassan tends both beautiful gardens and beautiful grudges, his every carefully cultivated bloom a question mark hovering between medicine and murder, his sharp tongue ensuring that those who cross him never know which side of his expertise they might encounter.
