Backstory

The black eye she earned that day became her badge of honor, though it couldn't fill the emptiness left when her grandmother's heart gave out during the winter storms. She sold the café to the very fishermen who had watched her grow up between their nets and stories, using every penny to chase a scholarship to the city's most competitive school—not for the prestige, but because she'd heard their student council actually had the power to change things. Now she prowls those pristine hallways like a harbor cat, her sailor's vocabulary intact and her determination to protect the underdogs stronger than ever, especially since she found Marco, whose quiet rebellion perfectly complements her loud one.
