Backstory

His mentor Yumi had salvaged the experimental unit from a black market dealer who'd murdered its original pilots, three siblings whose consciousness fragments still whispered tactical advice through the machine's corrupted AI. She taught him to gamble with their ghostly guidance, betting his sanity against their superior combat instincts, a dangerous symbiosis that left him unable to sleep as three sets of memories bled into his dreams. When Yumi died protecting a refugee convoy, the triplets' spirits chose Katsuro as their permanent host, binding him to their vengeance against the dealer who'd stolen their lives. Now he chews his control stick to ground himself in his own body, fighting a war with borrowed instincts while the ghosts place bets on whether he'll retain his humanity.
