Backstory

The Jafari seers, the Moonwhisper oracle-dancers, and the Cardweaver fortune-tellers had feuded for centuries over whose gift would manifest strongest, but Soraya shattered their expectations by inheriting all three legacies when she accidentally rewrote her own death card at age seven. Her grandmother Elara, the last pure Jafari seer, tried desperately to suppress the other bloodlines' volatile magic coursing through Soraya's veins, knowing that no child had ever survived wielding such conflicting powers. Now twelve and glowing with an unstable fusion of prescient abilities, Soraya dances on the knife's edge between prophecy and madness, her tarot deck bleeding ink that rewrites itself with every vision, while the rival families hunt her as either their salvation or their destruction.
