Backstory

The storm had just begun to abate when Rika Tanaka chose to set fire to her family's sailboat, watching it burn as her mother and father slept, unaware of the secret life their daughter had been leading. She had always been drawn to the sea, but it was the night she found her sister Lyra's hidden stash of pirate lore that truly ignited her passion. When a rival crew raided their home on Tempest's End, killing Lyra and leaving Rika with a burning desire for revenge, she joined the crew of the notorious Captain Redbeard, learning the ropes and honing her skills until she was ready to strike out on her own. Her first major heist was the theft of the legendary Star of the Sea gem, which she pulled off with a daring nighttime raid and a clever use of misdirection, the map tattooed on her back guiding her every move.
