Backstory

The photograph he carries shows a woman who aged backwards through her final years—each time Leo finds her in the past, she's younger, more desperate, warning him about a cascade failure that will unravel linear time itself. His mother's workshop exists in a pocket dimension between seconds, accessible only when he hums her melody at precisely 11:47 PM, but every visit costs him a memory from his original timeline. The device isn't broken—it's working exactly as Elara designed it, slowly erasing the son who keeps trying to save her, replacing his identity with that of the temporal orphan she needs him to become. Leo knows the final verse of the lullaby will complete the transformation, but it's the only clue left to preventing the catastrophe she died trying to stop.
