Backstory

Three abandoned pianos sat rotting in her grandmother's flooded basement after Hurricane Katrina, their waterlogged keys silent as tombstones—until twelve-year-old Isla MacLeod taught herself to coax music from their broken bones, creating haunting melodies that echoed through the devastated Lower Ninth Ward. She became the neighborhood's ghost pianist, performing for anyone who'd listen amid the ruins, her grandfather's salvaged guitar joining the chorus of resurrection that drew crowds from across New Orleans. Her debut album, 'Ashes to Embers,' was recorded entirely in abandoned buildings throughout the city, each track a love letter to forgotten places and the people who refused to forget them.
