Backstory

Nobody believed the mechas were alive until Iris started hearing their dreams. Three years after accidentally linking her nervous system to a prototype neural interface during what should have been routine maintenance, she discovered that every mecha retained fragments of their pilots' memories—including the final, terrified thoughts of her brother Kai before his "training accident." The colonial defense force had been using pilots as unwilling test subjects for consciousness transfer experiments, and Kai had uncovered their plans to create an army of remote-controlled ghost pilots. Now Iris pilots the stolen 'Lucky Strike' not just seeking revenge, but racing to prevent her brother's trapped consciousness—and dozens of others—from being weaponized, guided by the whispered warnings of dead pilots that only she can hear.
