Backstory
Three nights before her thirteenth birthday, Yara discovered she could hear the final words of the dead—not through séances or rituals, but simply by touching objects they had cherished in life. The gift revealed itself when she brushed against her grandmother's prayer beads and suddenly heard a desperate warning about Elder Thaddeus, the village's most trusted holy man who was secretly poisoning the water supply to maintain his stranglehold over Elderglen. When Yara exposed his crimes using testimony from his own victims' spirits, Thaddeus manipulated the terrified villagers into believing she was possessed, leading to his public execution by an angry mob who later realized their mistake. Now she wanders between the world of the living and the dead, using her ability to give voice to those silenced by injustice, while ancient spirits flock to her like moths to flame, eager to finally tell their truths.
