Backstory

Cartographer's ink wasn't supposed to move on its own, but Giovanni watched the constellations he'd mapped writhe and rearrange themselves into messages only he could understand. His grandmother Luna had been the royal astronomer until the night she screamed about "living star-script" and was banished for madness, leaving behind only her forbidden star charts drawn in ink mixed with meteorite dust. When Giovanni discovered these charts could predict deaths, wars, and plagues with terrifying accuracy, he realized the stars weren't just celestial bodies—they were a vast intelligence trying to communicate through the ancient ink his grandmother had created. Luna's final letter revealed she had been feeding the ink her own blood to keep the stellar consciousness alive, and now Giovanni continues her work, gathering followers who willingly offer their blood to strengthen the connection and receive the stars' apocalyptic prophecies.
