The parrot perched on her shoulder belonged to the witch—a transformed pirate lord who now squawks ancient sea shanties containing clues to the very treasures his tattooed map reveals. She carved her freedom with her own blade, severing both the marriage contract and her finger to escape an arranged union, then cheated death itself in a card game to win the Phantom's Call from a skeletal dealer in a tavern that exists only during eclipses. When her trusted first mate Jacques Leclair led a mutiny, she challenged him not to a duel of swords, but to a contest of wills against her storm-sense, laughing like thunder as the tempest she summoned swept him overboard while leaving her crew untouched.
