Backstory

Midnight brought the sound of clacking typewriter keys from the basement of the Rousseau Publishing House, where twelve-year-old Solange had discovered her sister Lyra sneaking down to write forbidden stories on the broken machines their father had discarded. The sisters spent three years crafting a secret literary rebellion together, until a car accident stole Lyra's voice mid-sentence in a story they'd never finish. Solange carried that unfinished manuscript through high school like a talisman, channeling her fury at incomplete narratives into an obsessive need to control every story around her—from student council meetings to class projects to the precise temperature of her tea. She transferred colleges specifically to escape the basement where Lyra's ghost still whispered plot ideas, but packed her sister's ink-stained fountain pen as both weapon and prayer.
