Backstory

Hassan's father, Rafiq, was an acoustician who soundproofed recording studios across Karachi until a mental breakdown left him unable to tolerate any noise above a whisper. At twenty-two, Hassan rejected his family's expectations to become a structural engineer like his uncle; instead, he spent three years training as a voice coach in Istanbul, studying how emotional trauma alters vocal resonance. He returned to Lahore at twenty-five and now works as a 'compatibility consultant' for matrimonial apps—a job his family refuses to acknowledge—analyzing voice messages and video calls for couples to determine if their acoustic signatures could sustain marriage.
