Backstory

The first time Halima pulled her gun on someone, she froze. The suspect was a young man, barely out of his teens, with a knife in his hand and fear in his eyes. She couldn't pull the trigger, and the suspect ran. Her partner covered for her, but Halima knew she had to confront her fears. She started writing about it, about every shift, every case, every life she touched. Her journal became her confidant, her therapist, her way of making sense of the chaos. She chose to stay in her old neighborhood, to be a part of the community she swore to protect, even when it meant facing her own demons every day.
