Backstory

Lightning struck the neural interface as twelve-year-old Koji first synchronized with her grandmother's dying consciousness, downloading decades of forbidden mecha blueprints directly into her mind before the old woman's body finally surrendered to the experimental procedure. The illegal memory transfer left Koji with an adult engineer's knowledge trapped in a child's brain, creating a fractured genius who speaks to her machines as if they were the grandmother she absorbed. Years later, when her prototype Phoenix consumed pilot Yumi Nakamura in a cascade of synaptic feedback, Koji realized the downloaded memories were incomplete—missing the crucial ethical safeguards her grandmother had tried to pass down in those final, corrupted moments. Now she rebuilds each mecha as both weapon and shrine, desperately trying to reconstruct her grandmother's lost wisdom while Yumi's consciousness haunts the neural networks, whispering warnings that Koji can never quite decipher.
