Backstory
Three photographs tucked behind Luna Midnight's badge tell the real story: her twin sister Marie, found floating in Lake Pontchartrain with carnival beads wrapped around her throat; the corrupt Captain Boudreaux who ruled the evidence locker like his personal vault; and the morning she discovered her own partner planting a bloody knife in an innocent man's apartment. She had joined the force believing justice wore a uniform, only to learn it dressed like everyone else and rarely showed its face in daylight. The 'Bayou Butcher' case became her breaking point when the real killer walked free while she was ordered to close the file, leaving her to choose between her badge and her conscience. Now she works the cases that matter to the dead, funded by well-placed poker games and the occasional wealthy widow who needs someone to care more about truth than reputation.
