Backstory

The note revealed that Madame Moreau had been secretly studying the "returned ones," corpses that refused to stay dead, using her position as the town's mortician to conduct experiments that violated every boundary between life and death. When Simone followed the cryptic map her grandmother left behind and found the hidden laboratory beneath the morgue, she also found her grandmother's final subject still breathing on the table—a thing that had been buried three times but kept clawing its way back to the surface. That night, as she helped the creature escape through the cemetery gates, Simone inherited both her grandmother's terrible legacy and an insatiable need to understand why some monsters choose to return while others simply fade away.
