Backstory

The experimental alchemical treatments that saved his life after a catastrophic palace explosion also forged his nickname, as traces of iron literally coursed through his rebuilt cardiovascular system. Once the kingdom's most passionate young guardsman, he now struggles with emotions that feel distant and muted, his enhanced durability coming at the cost of his humanity. He carries a small, hidden locket with a portrait of his late family—victims of the same explosion that killed him—a secret reminder that beneath the iron beats whatever remains of his original heart. The kingdom sees an unbreakable protector; Jakub fears he's becoming the very emotionless weapon he's sworn to stand against.
