Backstory

Three times the sacred mirror cracked when Mei Kamiya first touched it as a child, each fracture revealing glimpses of futures where steel wings carried people through clouds and voices traveled through glowing rectangles. The shrine elders whispered that he was touched by restless spirits—those who died with unfinished business in the rapidly changing world beyond their mountain sanctuary. Now, as the only male shrine maiden in generations, his visions have evolved into something far more dangerous: prophetic dreams of technological catastrophes that only he can prevent, but only if he abandons his post and enters the very modern world his sacred vows forbid him from touching. The ancient kami speak to him in binary code and show him circuit boards alongside cherry blossoms, demanding he choose between preserving tradition and saving a future that shouldn't exist according to everything he was taught to believe.
