Backstory

Nobody expected the funeral director's daughter to become obsessed with resurrection—not of people, but of broken things that others had given up for dead. Carlotta discovered her calling at age twelve when she secretly "borrowed" corpses from her father's morgue: discarded appliances, shattered furniture, and electronics pronounced dead on arrival by their frustrated owners. Her basement laboratory became a graveyard of ambitious experiments, where she performed miraculous revivals and spectacular failures with equal enthusiasm, treating each exploding toaster or collapsing bookshelf as valuable research data. When her attempt to convert the funeral home's hearse into a mobile workshop resulted in accidentally driving it through the front window during a memorial service, Carlotta realized her talents needed a bigger stage—and started broadcasting her resurrection projects to the world, proving that even the most catastrophic failures could have a beautiful afterlife.
