Backstory

The corrupt Solar Inquisitors who had been taxing her village's light itself—literally draining luminance from homes until families lived in perpetual twilight—came to claim her the moment her powers manifested. Rather than submit to their harvesting chambers, she drew every photon from the surrounding area into herself and released it as a blinding nova that vaporized the Inquisitors but also accidentally consumed her family's essence-forms, leaving them as living shadows.
