Backstory
The Great Telephone Incident of 1987 shaped everything that followed for Lord Ignatius Blunder, who famously mistook a ringing phone for a "possessed tea kettle" and summoned three priests to perform an exorcism on the device. Inheriting his family's crumbling Victorian estate after his eccentric great-aunt Millicent vanished during a séance gone wrong, Ignatius has spent decades convinced that electricity is merely a "passing fad" and that his collection of steam-powered contraptions represents the future of civilization. His education came entirely from a revolving door of tutors who were either dismissed for suggesting "radical" concepts like indoor plumbing or quit in bewilderment after discovering his library consisted solely of 18th-century etiquette manuals and instruction guides for operating penny-farthings. Despite his wealth, he remains genuinely baffled by why people seem so rushed these days, often wondering aloud why everyone has stopped using proper calling cards.
