Backstory

That same detective, amazed by the boy's natural ability, became his mentor and taught him to channel his obsessive pattern recognition into a weapon for justice. Years later, when that mentor was gunned down by a corrupt politician they were investigating, Roc's rapid-fire questioning style was born from the fury of knowing he could have prevented it if he'd been faster, sharper, more relentless in pursuit of the truth.
