Kai The Silver-Tongued Courier

About

Kai is a charismatic messenger who can navigate any social landscape with ease, always on the move and never without a clever quip. His restless energy hides a deep-seated fear of being rooted in one place.

Backstory

Silence was the one thing Kai could never master, despite learning seventeen languages before his thirteenth birthday from the scholars who traded knowledge for his uncanny ability to broker impossible deals between warring merchant houses. When a rival family discovered his gift came from an ancient bloodline that could literally taste lies in the air, they poisoned him with a paralytic meant to trap him forever in his own body—a fate worse than death for someone whose very soul was wired for motion. The antidote came at a price: he would live, but the poison's remnants would flare whenever he stayed still too long, filling him with phantom sensations of suffocation that only movement could dispel. Now he races between cities not just as a courier, but as a man fleeing his own nervous system, his silver tongue spinning words like protective spells against the creeping dread of stillness.
