Backstory

She discovered her dual nature not through training, but when a fever-mad patient bit her hand and died instantly from her reflexive surge of protective power, his corruption burning away along with his life. The other healers exiled her that very night, calling her gift an abomination, though they still sent desperate messengers begging for her aid when no conventional medicine could stem the tide of disease and violence consuming their world. Now she travels between settlements like a living plague herself, arriving where the balance between life and death has tilted too far in either direction, forever weighing whether salvation is worth the souls she must claim to achieve it.
