Backstory

Nobody expected the twelve-year-old street musician playing saxophone outside Palermo's opera house to be calculating which patrons carried the most cash, but Min-Seo 'Vix' Park had been reading people's tells since before she could read sheet music. The night her fence parents were gunned down during a botched antiquities heist, she didn't cry—she memorized the killers' faces and began practicing their mannerisms until she could predict their next job. 'Papa' Giovanni found her three months later, not grieving in some alley, but successfully running her own information brokerage from a jazz club's back room, trading secrets for protection money. Under his mentorship, she refined her natural gift for behavioral prediction into an art form, using vintage jazz records as her calling cards—each song carefully chosen to send a specific message to rivals who soon learned that when Vix started humming, someone was about to disappear.
