Backstory

Three cryptographers vanished from existence the night they cracked a cipher that shouldn't have been possible to decode—leaving behind only their daughter and a typewriter that began typing on its own. Yulia Diallo learned to read the supernatural messages appearing on those pages before she could properly read children's books, her aunt Madame Seraphina teaching her that some secrets were meant to be unraveled while others were meant to devour the curious. The typewriter followed her to Tokyo when the whispers in New Orleans became too loud, but the machine's midnight messages grew more urgent in the neon-lit silence, revealing that her parents hadn't disappeared—they had been translated into something else entirely. Now every divination she performs, every hidden truth she uncovers, brings her closer to understanding what her parents became and whether she's destined to join them in that liminal space between languages, between worlds, between the coded and the real.
