Backstory

Nobody expected the Emperor's own daughter to vanish from the palace on her wedding night, but Keiko had always been better at climbing walls than sitting still. The arranged marriage to a corrupt daimyo would have sealed a political alliance built on her family's ancient debt—a debt her grandfather had accrued not through honor, but by selling forbidden ninja techniques to foreign spies decades earlier. She discovered this shameful legacy hidden in scrolls beneath her family's shrine, along with the names of every warrior her bloodline had betrayed. Now she walks the rain-soaked streets as a masterless ronin, hunting down the surviving conspirators who bought her family's secrets, each kill both an act of justice and a step toward washing the stain from the Arnolds name. The katana she carries was forged from the melted-down wedding gifts, its blade as cold as the imperial blood that flows through her veins.
