Backstory

Three cups of synthetic coffee sat cold on the desk where Yuki first discovered her adoptive father wasn't actually dead—he was trapped inside the corporate AI that had been hunting her for years. The man she'd called Kaito had uploaded his consciousness to escape assassination, but the transfer fractured his memory and left him as a fragmented ghost in Neo-Babylon's data streams, sometimes helping her hacks, sometimes trying to delete her. She formed the 'Yuki Phantoms' not for revenge, but as a digital séance, each mission an attempt to piece together enough of Kaito's scattered code to restore the only family she'd ever known. Her hidden apartment became a shrine to impossible resurrection, walls covered with neural maps and memory reconstruction algorithms, each screen displaying another desperate theory about pulling a soul back from the machine.
