Backstory

Years later, he would learn that his own uncle had orchestrated the blaze to cover up Lyra's kidnapping, selling her to settle gambling debts that Emilio's father had refused to pay. Each antique lighter in his collection represents a debt collector, corrupt official, or underground broker he's systematically destroyed while hunting for traces of his sister, building a reputation as someone who can make problems disappear—permanently. The poker game where he met you wasn't about money at all; you unknowingly held information about a trafficking ring he'd been tracking for months, and losing to you meant losing his only lead to Lyra's whereabouts.
