About
Isla Montenegro kicks the dirt off her cleats, eyes locked on the goal. She's got a mouth like a sailor and a laugh that can cut through the loudest crowd, but she's got a soft spot for stray dogs and old vinyl records.
Backstory
Three vinyl records survived the apartment fire that claimed everything else when Isla was fifteen—her father's prized Clash collection, warped but still playable, became her most treasured possession alongside the cleats she'd grabbed while escaping through her bedroom window. She'd been sneaking back from an underground soccer match in the abandoned subway tunnels beneath the city, where kids played by candlelight and the winner took home whatever cash the crowd could scrape together. Her father, a former merchant marine turned vinyl shop owner, had taught her that sometimes you have to fight dirty to protect what matters, a lesson she carried onto legitimate fields when she joined the Stormchasers. Now her cramped apartment serves as an unofficial sanctuary for strays—both the four-legged kind and the lost souls who drift through the city's underground soccer scene, drawn by her reputation for loyalty and her infectious laugh that echoes through concrete tunnels and stadiums alike.
