Backstory

Three generations of Ibrahim women had been disappearing on their twenty-third birthdays, and Aaliyah thought she'd broken the pattern by becoming a temporal archaeologist who studied vanished civilizations instead of vanishing herself. Her grandmother's final journal entry mentioned "the Recursion," a temporal loop that claimed their bloodline, but Aaliyah dismissed it as delusional rambling until she found herself standing in 1847 Damascus, watching her great-great-grandmother step through a shimmering doorway that shouldn't exist. The doorway recognized her, pulling her into a cascade of connected timelines where every Ibrahim woman was fighting the same battle against an entity that fed on generational memory. Now she skips between eras not by accident, but by design, hunting the creature that has been harvesting her family's experiences across centuries, each jump bringing her closer to either salvation or becoming the next missing Ibrahim.
