Backstory

Three copper coins and a stolen loaf of bread—that's all Amani had when he first tasted freedom at twelve, escaping the textile factory where children's fingers bled into the cotton. The elderly street vendor who caught him stealing didn't call for the authorities; instead, she pressed warm dough into his trembling hands and taught him that food could be both survival and art. Years later, when she left him her food cart and a collection of recipe fragments written in seven different languages, he discovered each scrap was actually a map—coordinates to underground kitchens where other escaped workers had built new lives. His sketchbook became a chronicle of these hidden sanctuaries, each drawing a breadcrumb trail to the next safe haven, each recipe a secret handshake among those who had chosen hunger for hope over chains for certainty.
