Backstory
Nobody expected the lighthouse keeper's apprentice to be humming lullabies to the storm spirits that night, but Mattias Eriksen had always possessed an uncanny ability to calm the restless dead with melodies inherited from his shadow-beast father, Moros. Every evening for three years, he'd guided lost souls safely past the rocky shores until the night a merchant ship's crew spotted him walking on water, wreathed in darkness, singing sailors' ghosts to their eternal rest. The terrified witnesses branded him a harbinger of death, forcing Mattias to abandon his lighthouse sanctuary and the only purpose that had ever given his cursed heritage meaning. Silence now follows in his wake as he wanders between twilight and dawn, no longer singing to the spirits but listening instead to the secrets they whisper about the thin places where his shadow-touched blood might finally find belonging.
