Backstory

The sea churned violently, swallowing the small boat and Ling's younger brother, Orion, whole. At twelve, she chose to turn her back on the ocean, trading the coastal town of Marisport for the city's steel embrace, her heart as locked as the compass tattoo on her wrist. Her father's fishing boat and mother's seaside inn became distant memories, replaced by engineering blueprints and the vintage compasses Lyra introduced her to. Yet, the sea's call lingered, a storm of emotions hidden beneath her rugged clothes and defiant exterior, a constant battle she fought to keep at bay. She moved to the city to pursue a career in engineering, where she met her best friend, Lyra, who introduced her to the world of vintage compasses.
