Backstory

The saxophone wailed a mournful dirge as Soren realized he'd accidentally killed his entire jazz ensemble during a blood-drunk fugue, their brass instruments scattered like broken bones across the stage. Trained as a mortician's apprentice in post-Civil War Louisiana, he had always been fascinated by the liminal spaces between life and death—a curiosity that would eventually transform him from meticulous body preparer to supernatural predator. His extensive medical knowledge and understanding of human anatomy made him a calculated hunter, unlike the impulsive vampires who saw humans as mere sustenance. When the Spanish influenza decimated New Orleans in 1918, Soren saw an opportunity to feed strategically while appearing to be a compassionate caretaker, moving between hospitals and morgues with a clinical precision that masked his true nature.
