Backstory

The storm had just begun to abate when Axel Lindström made his choice, standing over the unconscious form of Captain Elara, the woman who had taken him in after the sea had claimed his family. He could leave her to the mercy of the mutineers or fight, despite the odds. He chose the latter, earning his first scar and a reputation that would follow him through the Stormhaven Archipelago. Years later, in the grimy port town of Marisport, a rigged game of cards cost him his left eye, but it was the stray dog he found whimpering in the alley that night who taught him the value of gentleness, a stark contrast to the harsh life he'd known. Now, Axel's sturdy hands, weathered by the sea and countless adventures, are just as likely to cradle a wounded seagull as they are to defend those he cares for.
