Backstory

The instrument had belonged to Madame Evangeline, a voodoo priestess who bound her dying breath to its strings, ensuring that whoever played it would carry the weight of New Orleans' restless dead. Jaxer's twin brother Jax was the first to fall under its spell, his soul claimed during a midnight performance that ended in violence and shadow, leaving behind only the echo of unfinished melodies. Now Jaxer plays those same haunted songs, each note a bargain with the spirits that took his brother—trading pieces of his own humanity for glimpses of Jax's ghost in the music.
