Backstory

Synaesthesia cursed Lila with the ability to taste colors and hear brushstrokes, a neurological quirk that made her mother Yumi's traditional calligraphy lessons unbearable as black ink screamed metallic against her tongue. She discovered stolen moments of peace only when mixing her own pigments from crushed beetles, fermented berries, and oxidized metals in the back room of Yumi's Art Emporium, creating hues that sang rather than shrieked in her hypersensitive mind. The local artists who frequented the shop initially dismissed her unconventional techniques until they witnessed her painting while blindfolded, guided solely by the symphony of colors she could hear, producing works that seemed to pulse with their own heartbeat.
